I was leafing through my notebook the other day and found a couple years worth of New Year’s resolutions. I noticed that one item seemed to linger from year to year: SKINCARE. I decided that now that I’m officially in my thirties, this has got to be the year I become obsessed with renewing and protecting my skin.
To kick off my journey I visited Leah Chavie, the skincare goddess of Chicago! And yes, I will forever follow her name with that title because she’s the city’s “go-to” girl for gorgeous, glowing skin.
My treatment started out with a lymphatic drainage facial which was deeply relaxing and helped rid my face of excess fluid/puffiness. After a thorough cleaning I received dermaplaning and two laser treatments: Titan for my neck and chin and Laser Genesis all over my skin. I am SO intrigued by lasers that I am working on a whole series about the different types of laser and what each can do.
But let’s get back to dermaplaning. OMG can I just say I practically have baby skin! Dermaplaning is an exfoliation procedure in which a scalpel is used to remove dead skin and rid the face of peach fuzz hairs. It’s quick and COMPLETELY painless. The result is extremely soft, refined, smooth and glowing skin!
Oh and I have exciting news:
If you live in Chicago, Leah Chavie Skincare is generously offer dermaplaning to BABESKILLS readers for $65 through October! Just be sure to mention BABESKILLS when you visit.
I’m also SO not about to let all of Leah’s hard work go to waste. I immediately came home, whipped out my makeup brushes and gave them a good cleaning. Embarrassingly, I haven’t cleaned them since the summer and it’s recommended that you clean them weekly. So if you’re like me, consider this your gentle reminder.
