You know I love all things clean beauty and optimal wellness. So I’m bringing you a super sexy subject today: armpit health.
Yes, we’re going there.
Armpits are the next big thing in the detoxing craze and I’ve got to admit I am a fan. Read on to find out why you should detox your armpits and how to do it!
Why Detox Your Armpits?
Deodorants and anti-perspirants contain tons of chemicals and additives:
- Aluminum
- Propylene glycol–aka ANTIFREEZE
- Phthalates & Parabens–which are endocrine and hormone disruptors
- Many other know carcinogens- if you’re interested to know what it’s in your conventional deodorant and the harmful effects, you can look it up here.
Long story short…I’m just not comfortable putting endocrine disrupting chemicals on top of my lymph nodes. And don’t even get me started on the possible link to breast cancer. I’ve decided I’m not taking my chances.
As first step, I made the permanent switch to an all natural deodorant last year.
Next up: armpit masking! Yes, it’s now a thing and I’m here for it.
What Does Detoxing Your Armpits Do?
Detoxing your armpits periodically can help to remove bacteria and draw out chemicals from conventional deodorant use. It also removes product buildup, decreases odor and I find that I am less sweaty afterwards!
Detoxing your armpits can also be helpful when making the switch to a natural deodorant. A lot of times people feel that natural deodorant doesn’t work for them, when really they need to give their skin and pores time to detox the other stuff.
How To Detox Your Armpits:
I apply my fav all-natural bentonite clay mask to my pits bi-weekly, usually on my self-care sundays!
Lately, I’ve also been loving a ready made charcoal mask for armpit detoxing too. My favorites are: this one and this one.
Paint whichever mask you choose on your pits using a mask brush for application ( I love these silicone mask brushes for easy application and cleanup). Allow the mask to harden for 10-15 minutes before rinsing.
Pro-tip: I usually do an armpit detox mask just before the shower for easy clean up!
What are your thoughts on detoxing your armpits?! Will you give an armpit detox a try?

My poor daughter keeps getting boils under her armpits do you have any suggestions that might help her not get them we have taken it to the doctor and they gave her medicine to try to help get out the infection but it could possibly be that she’s got now she’s got another one underneath her armpit where do you find all natural deodorant and is there a home remedy Master you can make yourself to put under her armpits to detox it

Hi Jacky! Oh no I am SO sorry to hear this. I would defiantly follow the advice of your doctor as I’m not a medical professional and I haven’t experienced this myself.
I linked the mask I use above and you can read about my favorite natural deodorants/where to buy them here:

It’s worth a shot but be sure to check w/ your doctor first. I wouldn’t want the mask or deodorant to irritate her any further.

I had this experience in Hawaii, due to the hot humid climate. I used a warm compress of minced onions, minced ginger and powdered tumeric several times a day for at least a week. I avoided a trip to the doctor with this treatment, so might be worth a try in combination with what your doctor reccomends? It smells awful and will turn your armpit yellow temporarily, but it is very drawing and healing!

Oh that is super interesting! Thanks for sharing!

Definitely doing this! Do you mix the clay with the apple cider vinegar?
babeskills says
Yep! Just equal parts clay and ACv! Lmk how you like!!
Abee says
Hi I was wondering if the clay mask will work for underarm rashes?
babeskills says
Hi Abee! I’m not sure I would put it on a rash since the mask is mixed with vinegar. It also pulsates quite a bit once it’s on.

I’m so excited to try this.
Both my pregnancies have left me dark pigmentation on my armpits and I’m slowly trying new products. I’m excited for this clay. I’ve already ordered. I’ve also left the razor as i noticed no improvement with it. I’ve started to wax and see bits of lightening.
babeskills says
Awesome!! I hope it helps. I don’t do it as often as I would like. Thank you for the reminder.

I’m loving this piece. Such an important spotlight to shine. I’ve also found that your armpit hair removal method can also have an impact. Has anyone tried sugaring their underarms? I’ve been sugaring (also non-toxic) my underarms for years and I noticed some of the same things; less smelly, softer and lighter skin in the area. I’m gonna start with the bentonite clay masks too!
Thanks for sharing 🙂

I have not tried it but I am super intrigued!! Thanks so much for the tip!
