I am peacing out of cold, gloomy Chicago this week for some beach time in Florida. Be sure to follow the fun on Intstagram, I’ll be posting lots of stories!
When I get back, I’ll be in FULL blown spring cleaning mode. Sure there are closets to organize, baseboards to clean and corners to scrub BUT what about the energy of you home?
Enter: Smudging
After I smudge my space, it feels much more light and positive, making it easier to embrace the energy of a new beginning!
Learn more about saying buh-bye to bad energy below.
WTF is Smudging?
Smudging is an ancient cleansing practice utilizing sage smoke to help rid your space of negative or stagnant energy from your home. It’s also said to bring good luck and as a bonus it’s an effective deodorizer! If you need some science, it’s also proven to absorb up to 94% of airborne bacteria.
You can find these cerimonial smudge sticks at your local Whole Foods or on amazon! There’s even some gorgeous floral varietals.
How To Smudge Your Home:
- Before you begin this ritual open a window or two–you need somewhere for the negative energy to fluff out.
- Set an intention and focus on the kind of energy you wish to attract to your space.
- Light your smudge stick, blow out the flame and let it smolder.
- Spread the smoke throughout your space and gently fan with you hand. Focus the smoke on gateway areas (i.e. doors and windows) and corners.
- As you move throughout your home, repeat the ritual in each room, altering your intention as needed.
How Often Should You Smudge Your Space?
You can perform this cleansing ritual as often if you want. I like to do it during the change of the seasons for a fresh start AFTER I’ve deep cleaned my home home (the less clutter the better for this).
It’s also great to do when you move into a new apartment or home to get rid of any bad vibes that are lingering around.
Sound off: Have you babe experimented with smudging your space?
