One of my New Year’s resolution was to set and stick to a morning routine.
The problem is, I am not a morning person. Basically this is me everyday. It doesn’t matter if I go to bed at 7 PM, me and mornings don’t mesh.
BUT I’ll admit waking up, throwing myself together and rushing out the door makes me feel like a basic betch rather than Beyonce. Not to mention it sets a negative tone for my day.
So I’ve been starting small with giving myself an extra 30 minutes of “me” time in the morning. My new routine goes a little something like this:
- Wake up and make hot lemon water! (Read bout the benefits here)
- Cozy up back in bed to write in my Five Minute Journalย & set my intentions for the day (more on The Five Minute Journal in another post)
- Read a few pages of this new business book I started called Growth Hacker Marketing ( I am a nerd and can’t read this before bed because I get too excited!)
- Following that, I do 5 minutes of meditation (another post on this coming later too). I’m hoping to up to 30 mins eventually.
- Then it’s time to rev up my day with 3 sets of 12 push-ups (hello, bachelorette arms don’t build themselves).
- Lastly, I’ll listen to an entire episode of Serial (OBSESSED) while I take my time (<< key words here) getting ready.
I’ve only adopted this new routine for a few weeks and I can honestly say, I am calmer & happier during the day and feel prepared to take on whatever comes my way!
