Wow, how did we get here!? I cannot believe I am just over a week away from my due date. It seems like just yesterday I was obsessively putting together our registry, celebrating at my baby shower and taking fun maternity pictures in anticipation of meeting our little guy!
Speaking of meeting our little guy, I’ve been indulging in all the old wives tales in the hopes that he’ll make his debut a little earlier. I’m over here eating 6 dates per day, downing raspberry leaf tea, noshing on pineapple, walking at least 3 miles per day and doing lots of squats/ball bouncing. Maybe I should circle back in another post and let you guys know if I think any of these actually helped induce labor?!
Now that my most of my pregnancy is behind me, I am excited to share an update on how things are going:
Favorite Moments So Far:
Taking maternity photos and my baby shower! My mom gave us the most lovely day and it was SO nice to see my friends/family and celebrate such a special time in our lives.
We also learned baby Karl will be getting a cousin–my sister is also pregnant with a BOY and we can’t wait for them to grow up the best of friends!!
Physical Changes:
Sleep has been interesting. I find myself awake at 4 AM most nights. I hear that’s God’s way of preparing you for sleepless nights during the newborn phase?!
Unfortunately, my skin still continues to break out from the hormones but I try and manage it with lots of makeup free days and I use Juice Beauty’s pregnancy peel often!
Diet/Cravings:
The most disappointing thing about pregnancy was that I had virtually no cravings! Like can a girl get a hankering for some flaming hot cheetos?! How about some ice cream? Aside from citrus fruits, I craved nothing fun.
I do still miss wine but knowing it’s in my near future is a big help! I’m actually packing some champs in my hospital bag, if even for the smallest toast post bebe!
Workouts:
I did a whole post on my pregnancy workout routine which you can checkout here! This week marks my last official OrangeTheory class. I am SO glad I stayed consistent as I heard staying active through pregnancy makes labor and recovery much easier (I will report back). From here on out I’m doing lots of walking, prenatal yoga and at home workouts!
Best Purchases:
For me: I’m glad I invested in prenatal yoga classes. The hour of stretching and mindfulness feels like such a treat for my body after a long week. I’ve also been getting monthly prenatal massages and upped my last one to 90 minutes.
For baby: I’m obsessed with this clean, chic and modern baby book! I’ve already started filling out some pages and adding in photos!
Baby Preparations:
We’re currently living in an apartment while our house is being built, so baby love just has plenty of little nooks around our place. Aside from that I’ve just been washing all of his little clothes and bottles, putting away his blankets and keeping the house nice and clean. We’ve also planned out a few fun dates we’re trying to fit in before baby does decide to make his arrival!
