To put it quite simply, I can’t believe a place like this actually exists! Positano was hands down, the highlight of our trip to Italy. In fact, we’re even planning on traveling straight to the Amalfi Coast for our next trip and spending ALL of our time there!
After a week of discovering city life in Italy, Positano was a welcome escape to sun, sand and tan under the Italian sun! Positano is completely vertical which means lots and lots of steps, plus tons of fun nooks and crannies to discover.

Where To Stay:
We stayed at the Pasitea Art Hotel, which I highly recommend! The room was HUGE and included a sitting area separate from our bedroom and an amazing balcony. The view of the Mediterranean, pictured above, and the authentic tile floors made this room feel more like a suite.
The only con to this hotel is that it was up higher from the center of town, so we had to walk 300+ steps down to the beach, which wasn’t so bad and only took about 10 minutes. The way up however is another story! BUT we welcomed the exercise, it allowed us to eat LITERALLY whatever we wanted AND we were able to explore an area of Positano we wouldn’t have otherwise, if we stayed a little closer to the beach. Next time we’re planning to stay at the famed, Le Sirenuse.
What To Do:
Wake up early, get to the beach and rent a chair:
Don’t forget to snag a bottle of prosecco on the way and some strawberries, to enjoy while you’re getting a tan:
Dip your toes into the Mediterranean.I love the crystal clear water and rocky beaches:
- We also loved exploring the little shops in town and lunching at the many oceanside cafes! One of my favorite souvenirs was having custom leather sandals handmade, directly on my feet!!! There are many shops in Positano that offer handmade sandals but Don Catello is the best!
- I also booked a sunset cruise, however due to rough waters we were unable to go. We are looking forward to trying it again next time! We’d also LOVE to explore the emerald grotto and book a day trip to Capri, which is only 30 minutes or so by boat from Positano.
What To Eat:
- La Tagliata– our FAVORITE restaurant experience not only in Positano, but all of Italy! First, they’ll arrange for a service to pick you up from your hotel and take you to the TIPPY TOP of Positano, where the organic farm and restaurant is located (needless to say the views are incredible). As soon as you arrive you’ll be greeted with a bottle of wine followed by 7 antipasti, 4 pastas, and 6 cuts of meat….all made by Nonna herself (whom you get to meet)! A true family operation, her son acts as a guide during dinner while his beautiful wife serenads patrons with traditional Italian songs. Equally as incredible, this entire experience is just $35 Euro per person!
- Da Adolfo– Make reservations beforehand for this ALL day experience which includes a short boat trip to the cove, time to relax and enjoy the private beach and of course the main attraction: LUNCH! On the menu? Whatever it is they are deciding to serve that day–which usually consists of the fresh catch with veggies grown locally and a bit of pasta. After lunch it’s back to the main area of Positano full of food & memories!
- Next 2- on our last night in Italy we toasted to our trip at this amazing, Michelin starred restaurant! This one is definitely on the pricey end and best to save for a special occasion.

It’s hard to believe you can leave so much of yourself in one place. I am already plotting my next adventure to this magical city! Have any of you been to Positano? Any fun recommendations to share?
