In my quest to adopt a more natural beauty routine, I started noticing a major skincare trend.
The Konjac Sponge (pictured above), has actually been all the rage in Japan for quite some time. However, this avocado shaped tool is just now making it’s way stateside.
The sponge works as an exfoliating agent that’s MUCH more gentle than sugar/salt scrubs. Also, the exfoliating bamboo charcoal removes old skin cells impurities and leaves skin glowing! The best part is that it doesn’t irritate your skin and cause red or over-drying.
You guys, after just ONE use my face was SO silky smooth and when I woke up my skin was GLOWING. While it’s true there’s no way to change your pore size, CLEAN pores def appear smaller.
So…What’s a konjac sponge EXACTLY?
Short Version: It’s basically a root vegetable.
Long Version: The Japanese Konjac Sponge is a 100% natural sponge made from vegetable fibers of Konjac (Konnyaku). The Konjac Sponge has been used in Japan for more than 100 years, even for newborn baths, because of its soft texture.
How you use a konjac sponge?
When dry, the sponge is actually hard as rock! Add water to soften the sponge and then use it to scrub your face clean. You can use this sponge WITH or WITHOUT your favorite facial cleaner AND it’s safe to use both morning and night. I like to wash my face with cleanser first, then use the sponge.
After each use, rinse with water and lay flat to dry. You can re-use the sponge for 1-3 months, replacing as needed!
Where To Buy A Konjac Sponge?
The BEST part about the Konjac Sponge is that it’s super cheap (I paid just $7 for mine from EcoTools). Everyone from Biore to Honest Beauty are selling this hot new sponge. but I recommend sticking with an organic version. I’ve linked some from our favorite natural/organic brands below:
Have you guys tried the konjac sponge? What was your experience!?
