While I’ll try just about any wellness trend and have uncovered many healthy living hacks, one tried and true habit I NEVER stray from is drinking plenty of water throughout the day.
In fact, I make it my goal to drink my weight in water! This means you should drink one ounce of water per pound of body weight daily.
If remembering to drink water throughout the day is a challenge for you, start by drinking 1/2 ounce of water per pound of body weight. I’m sharing some tips for reaching your goals as well as the specifics on why you should start guzzling h2o STAT.
Why Staying Hydrated is Key:
- essential for good circulation, getting nutrients to the body and getting rid of toxins
- helps promote clear skin and boosts your mood
- aids with weight loss (often times when we feel hungry, we are actually just dehydrated)
- increases energy and boosts immune system
- regulates body temperature, lubricates joints and protects tissues
Tips For Meeting Your Goal:
- I always start my day with hot lemon water to rehydrate my body from sleep. I find this also sets the tone for my day and sets me up for success.
- I usually throw together a pitcher of spa water to spice things. I actually look forward to guzzling this down throughout the day. You can find my favorite recipe here.
- I take a glass water bottle with me everywhere I go, from my car, the gym, the office and everywhere in between so I don’t forget to drink water. This way there are no excuses. I also know I need to drink 8 full water bottles to reach my goal, so it keeps me on track!
