2 Natural Beauty Products That Have Got Me Thinkin' Dirty

It’s been a minute since I’ve circled back to my “better for you” beauty series, so today you’re getting a two for one deal!

In an attempt to clean up my beauty routine, I’ve been testing out non-toxic swaps to share what actually works! First up, I found a replacement for body lotion which I still really love. But since my skin has been SO extra dry this winter, I’ve also been using Burt’s Bees body lotion (big fan of the Milk & Honey) which is another great swap for sickie, chemical filled lotions like Jergens and Olay.

So let’s get to the dirty thoughts part! Have you guys heard of the app “Think Dirty”? Basically it allows you to scan the barcode of beauty products and then divulges any potentially toxic ingredients. The app also rates products on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the worst for you) so that you can easily navigate the confusing world of beauty product labeling and make the most informed decision.

You guys, you NEED this app. I may have been standing in the “natural beauty” aisle for 45 minutes at Target. I also went through my medicine cabinet/makeup drawer and threw out the worst culprits.

Today I am sharing two natural beauty DRUGSTORE finds, that I’ve swapped in my routine.

Zum Mist Aromatherapy spray and body mist:

So the other day in hot yoga class I was minding my own business in Savasana, when the instructor came by to fan me down with a towel. I was feeling really nice and cool…. and THEN i got a whiff of something that literally jolted me from my yogi zen! After class my teacher explained she had sprayed a little of this Zum Mist (sea salt scent) on her towel.

Zum mist can be used as an aromatherapy home mist, body spray AND even on your sheets before bed. It’s a nice option if you don’t want to wear perfume on the daily and my hubs 100% approved of the pillow spritz before bed.
