We believe hair is the perfect way to reflect your personal style. It’s such a critical part of creating and complementing your overall look. With the right blowout and style you can be the ultimate Chic Boss. We think hair is your best accessory!
We had the pleasure of visiting the super-lovely gals at The Blowout Bar for an amazing Bahama Mama blowout. This is everything it sounds like: messy, beachy waves. It’s my favorite hairstyle so I knew we’d get along famously. As I walked in the door, we were greeted by smiles and a glass of champagne which is always in vogue. After a quick consult with our stylist we started the process.
We’re most happy and excited that we get to share with you the secrets they used to achieve this perfect beachy blowout. They used a wand to create the natural-looking waves and all of the products used on me were Kevin Murphy and available for purchase at The Blowout Bar. My favorites are the Resort Spray and Dry Shampoo.
Kevin Murphy Young Again Treatment Oil: This was applied all over my hair while it was still wet after my wash. This oil is an essential part in a blowout because it’s a smoothing serum that moisturizes and (very importantly) protects your ends. It helps with frizz so the hair stays smoothe.
Kevin Murphy Anti Gravity Volumiser: Also applied while hair was still wet. This lotion is key because it gives you that sexy volume and lift at the root. Ultimately, it gives you that bounce and another major bonus: it’s oil free so it won’t leave you greasy!
Kevin Murphy Hair Resort Spray: Applied to my hair once it was blowdried and curled. First of all, the smell alone is enough to buy it! This stuff is really genuis because it helps hold curls in place and creates major texture in order to achieve that messy, beachy look.
Kevin Murphy Shimmer Shine: Applied once I was completely finished. This spray is a fun shine and repair finishing mist. It makes your hair shiny and has things like Vitamin A, C & E so it’s treating your locks throughout the day. Excuse me what? Amazing.
Kevin Murphy Fresh Hair/Dry Shampoo: Applied once I was completely finished to allow even more texture. This product is a must-have. I use it every day! For those gals (like me) who love dirty hair this is for you. It helps absorbs oils in your scalp so you can go days without washing and still have those beachy waves and texture.
Round Brush & Blowdryer (with champagne of course!): It’s important to use the right round brush according to your hair type. If you have fine hair, it’s best to use a ceramic brush because the metal bristles will heat up and give you the shape you want. If you have curly hair, bore bristles are best because they’re tougher and will help pull that curl out. Overall, it’s the round brush that really gives you nice shape and volume and will help with longevity of the blowout. Key note: the blowdryer should have a concentrator on the end. It serves as a protectant so your hair isn’t damaged by the heat.
