Today’s hot topic: at-home chemical peel reviews. If your mind is immediately conjuring up images of Samantha Jones’ red, irritated and blotchy face on SATC, we can’t blame you! Combine that with the fact that acid is the main ingredient in these peels and we can see why you might be intimidated to try an at-home version.
BUT, today’s at home treatments are super gentle yet amazingly MORE effective than peels of the past. Many are even safe to use DAILY.
Why do you need to use a facial peel?
Two words: Cell Turnover. Basically a “game changer” when it comes to skincare.
In your teens, skin looks amazing because cells turnover happens much quicker (about every 30 days). Fast forward to adulthood and you could be sitting around w/ bunches of dead skin cells on your skin’s surface for as many as 40-60 days. As a result your skin appears dull, those fine lines and wrinkles really strut their stuff and collagen production isn’t being triggered. Basically, you’re on the hot mess express.
What do facial peels do?
• Increase cell turnover
• Boost collagen production
• Reduce fine lines
• Brighten Skin
• Increase Skin Firmness
Our Top 3 Chemical Peel Reviews:
The Holy Grail: Dr. Dennis Gross Peel Pads

We’ve raved about Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta peel pads (extra strength formula) in the past. These pads are basically like “Roter-Rooter” for your pores. The best part are the immediate results. My skin is always is smooth, soft & glowing the morning after. The only con is that a month supply will run you $88. For this reason, I use these pads every other day, although they are safe for daily use.
The Once Per Week Mask : Ole Henriksen Lemon Stip Flash Peel
Ole Henriksen’s Lemon Strip Flash Peel is another old WTW favorite . This spa grade/professional strength peel is powered by lactic, glycolic and fruit acids that exfoliate and resurface skin. I try and use this mask once a week to combat unevenness, clogged pores, and a dull complexion.
The Over The Counter Wonder: Garnier Overnight Leave-On Peel
Garnier’s Overnight Leave-On Peel is one of the newer at home versions we’ve tried. It’s great for daily maintenance, especially if you’re dealing with hyperpigmentation issues, but the results won’t be as immediate as the Lemon Strip Flash Peel or Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel Pads. It’s great to use in between these 2 treatments, to keep those cells turning over!

If you’re new to peels, try using them every 2-3 days and increase frequency from there. Don’t forget to follow-up with a serum or moisturizer for your best skin yet.
